Absolute Adventure Mexico
We had a wonderful tour with Claire to Chichen Itza. She was personally lovely, very punctual (6.30am sharp at the hotel), hugely knowledgeable about the site and the Mayan people (very helpful colourful booklet which helped us to visualise how it originally looked) and sensitive to the needs of our whole family (ages 3, 12 and 15; navigating with a buggy, who needs suncream, water and needs a rest). We could not recommend her company more highly. Thank you again for a wonderful day, we could not recommend this company more highly.
Ver másMy wife and I enjoyed a great day learning and experiencing Mayan culture and exploring the mysteries in two cenotes. Manuel and our driver, Pascual, picked us up right on time (0630) from our hotel. Pascual's driving was superb! He kept us gently rolling through stop&go traffic around Playa and Tulum. He made it easy for us to chat on the way to Coba with Manuel, who was intelligent and conversational. More like a discussion about Mayan living and history, not a lecture. Our discussion was good preparation for appreciating what we experienced in Zona Arqueologica (ZA) Coba. Arriving before the big rush of tourists allowed us to get bikes and "taxi" (three wheeled pedal cab). It also allowed us to get right up to the buildings. For instance, Manuel was able to point out several places where then walls had remnants of the paints that used to cover them. Manuel encouraged us as we tackled climbing the big pyramid, which was the highlight of the ZA (actually). By the time we had seen all we wanted of the ZA, the place was packed with visitors. Great to see so many adults and kids learning about this remarkable civilization. What best follows an adventure of hiking/biking/climbing in the Yucatan jungle? Jumping into a cool, virtually deserted cenote or two. Pascual and Manuel took us first to a deep cenote approx 30 meters below ground. This one was a big cavern, but without much in the way of stalactites and stalagmites. After splashing around that one, we took a short journey to a smaller, but more interesting cavern with lots of those formations. After drying off, Pascual took us back to the village of Coba, where Manuel curated a great lunch in a local restaurant. We were sad to say goodbye to our two new friends; our 8 hours together left us richer in experience and appreciation for an advanced pre-colonial civilization within easy reach of the continental USA. Bottom line: Manuel is a gifted guide, Pascual a considerate driver, and getting to ZA Coba as early as possible in the day will increase your enjoyment.
Ver másOur guide Manuel and driver Pascual were excellent! They were punctual with pick up, and email communication before hand was prompt. We went to Tulum first, before the crowds and the heat, and we had Manniel as our guide around he ruins. He explained the Mayan ruins to us and provided much needed context. We then went to the Tak Be-ha Cenote, where we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves, which was amazing. The whole cave was amazing, and it was very accessible. We then had a very good lunch, where Manuel hooked us up with some amazing salsas, which was a nice change from the more bland resort food. We finished with snorkeling at Akumal, where we saw 5 turtles, and 2 sting rays. All in all, an amazing day, and the highlight of our Mexico trip!
Ver másI emailed Absolute Adventure looking for a private excursion that would give us a chance to visit a lesser known and smaller Mayan ruin and also go for a swim in a cenote. We had seen Coba and Tulum previously and now, 7 years later (and 7 years older!) we wanted to learn more about the Mayan culture but we needed a less strenuous activity as well as a cenote that was accessible, without many steps or slippery sections. Absolute Adventure was great! They modified their private tour of Coba and instead we went to Muyil (in the nature preserve Sian Ka'an a little bit beyond Tulum) and to an open cenote, Escondido. Muyil is a set of small ruins that are older than Coba (Tulum is much more recent). The area was completely empty when we arrived and so we had the ruins to ourselves. Our terrific guide, Chris, was very knowledgable about the Mayan culture and equally about the trees and birds of the area and when he saw that we were interested in hearing about all, he gave us a great tour, highlighting and comparing Muyil to other Mayan ruins so that we were able to draw a picture and a timeline of the culture. He had a notebook filled with images and notes and used these to build on what we were seeing on location. He clearly kept up with the research on the Maya and shared his knowledge generously. We learned about the Mayan's multiple gods and what is really known and what is still supposition about the culture and Chris filled us in about other Mayan ruins in MesoAmerica. When we finished (and we were not rushed) we were hot and sweaty and ready to go to Cenote Escondido! Once parked, we walked a short distance and had an easy entry into the water--Chris watching and helping as needed. It was beautiful, the water soft and cool. Afterwards, we had lunch in a bright and friendly seafood cafe. Fish tacos and calamari, some of our favorites. I would trust Absolute Adventure to pay attention to your needs and design an excursion that works for you. They were punctual and made everything easy. Hello to Roderigo our driver and finally to Pixie, Chris's sweet sweet dog who joined us for the tour. Thank you for a memorable visit!
Ver másWe enjoyed our Tulum/Cenote tour with Juan and Pascal through Absolute Adventure. Juan was knowledgeable and very personable...worth the money for the private tour!!
Ver másOur private tour with Claire was unbelievable. Claire and our driver picked us up at our resort early in the morning to avoid the crowds at Tulum ruins. While it was a little hard to wake up early, it was SOOO worth it watching all the crowds arriving as we were leaving the ruins. Our cenote experience was perfect as were the only ones there and had time to relax and even zip line a couple of times! Lunch was at an outdoor restaurant in the jungle that was some of the best Mexican food we've had. And then, swimming with the turtles was the perfect end to our day.
Ver másOur family group of 8, ages 10 to 70 loved this tour! Chris always made us feel safe and secure. We all did everything! Don't worry about the cenote, it's fun and safe and climbing out is a good challenge, with water shoes, and with the harness they can give you a pull from the top if you need it! There is also a changing room in the forest right at the cenote. The monkeys were a thrill and very close for excellent photos, so do that in the morning. We also enjoyed the beautiful zipline over the water, the canoe "race", the Mayan ceremony (brief) and very low key optional shopping of arts and crafts in the forest preserve, made by Mayans. Then we had a delicious lunch. The ruins at Coba were hot in the afternoon but if you exert yourself and climb to the top of one of the highest pyramids in the Yucatan, you will find a breeze and a great view. Most ruins do not allow you to climb the actual steps of the ruin anymore, so this is special. You can go back down on your bottom, if you need to,it is very steep! We rode the free clunker bikes at the ruins and that really helped with the heat. Plenty of cold drinks and an air conditioned van for transport to and from your lodging and between the preserve and the restaurant and the ruins. A great day for all ages, and a highlight of my travels on six continents.
Ver másThat was the best tour I have ever taken on any trip! In one long day we observed lots of active spider monkeys at play in the wild, experienced the most scenic zip line in Mexico, got to see what a cenote is like (and test our strength climbing the rope ladder out), enjoyed a canoe race, saw a present day Mayan village (and helped support them with our shopping), saw interesting birds, and hiked a through some good habitat! Then we ate an excellent lunch and biked around Coba, climbing Ixmoja, one of the few pyramids visitors are still allowed to climb and one of the tallest on the Yucatan peninsula. Biking around the site was awesome on our rattletrap bikes and helped us with the heat which was intense that afternoon. I'm glad I climbed the pyramid although that was the toughest activity on the trip. Punta Laguna in the morning was very special as we were the only visitors and the nature and activities were wonderful! The eight of us from 10yr old to 70yr old all equally enjoyed the tour.
Ver másCoba was amazing. Fun to ride bikes between the various temples and other Mayan buildings. Awesome to go to the top of the large temple, Nohoch Mul.
Ver másWe had a great tour. Pascual and Manuel picked us up at our resort and drove us to Chichen Itza. We had an excellent tour with a seasoned Maya guide, we followed this up with lunch and a cenote swim. The restaurant in Villadola was excellent. We had a great Mayan meal in a beautiful garden courtyard opposite a 16th century church. We swam in a covered cenote and were returned home. The drive stayed with the van and our extra belongs while we were on excursion and eating. Drinks and snacks were provided. Our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgable. The duration of stay at each place was tailored to our needs at the time. We are a family of 4 with two older children (16 and 20). I highly recommend Absolute Adventure and would go on another of their tours when next in the Playa del Carmen area.
Ver másI‚Äôll try to speak for our large group of 15 people traveling from Colorado -we had an incredible time with tour guide Jose Manuel, and drivers Carlos and Rodrigo of Absolute Adventure. We got up early and visited Myan ruins at Coba and closed cenote snorkeling at Tak Bi Ha. Jose Manuel was our tour guide and did an excellent job of proving a lot of education for us all, as well as showing us the most interesting sights along the way at Coba. We all enjoyed bicycling and climbing the pyramid and noticed how lucky we were to arrive early and beat the crowds. This is important and I encourage you to consider Absolute Adventure for your trip to explore the wonderful historic archaeological sites of Mexico. The best part of our excursion was the opportunity to explore the underground water caves of Tak Bi Ha cenote. Snorkeling with the stalagmites and stalactites in the clear water with virtuallly no other people was amazing. We were a very lucky group to have this once in a lifetime chance to explore the wonders of this geological phenomenon without having to compete with crowds of other tourists and visitors. We finished our tours with lunch and cervesa near the cenote -a good time was had by all. Thank you also, Absolute Adventure, for donating to Coco‚Äôs Animal Welfare as well as working to be ecologically responsible to the preservation of the important sites of Mexico. We had a blast!
Ver másWe had a large group that included adults, young adults, a 12 year old and a 5 year old. Everything from our communication with Claire and Chris to our drivers, Carlos and Rodrigo was just fantastic! Our pre-trip questions were answered in a timely manner. Our partial day excursion with Manuel at Cob√° and the Cenot√© was said by everyone in the group to be one of the best days they had! Conveying how awesome Manuel was is impossible to express in words. Just go, use Absolute Adventure, and hopefully you will also have the best day of your vacation too!
Ver másWonderful private tour with Manuel. We highly recommend this tour. We had a fabulous, informative archeological tour of Coba and Tulum. Everyone was courteous and prompt. We also very much enjoyed our lunch ! This tour company was worth the price. Our whole family enjoyed it. February 2019
Ver másThis is our second time doing this tour. We wanted another shot at seeing turtles at Akumal, and since we enjoyed the other parts of the tour so much, we just did the same one.
Ver másRight from the start Claire was incredibly helpful with the booking process, answering questions for us and helping to organise the best tours for us. We originally booked two tours with Absolute Adventure before leaving for Mexico, but due to our party becoming unwell we sadly had to cancel the first one which was due to be to Rio Lagartos. The second tour scheduled was to Chichen Itza, cenotes Xkeken and Samula, and lunch in Valladolid. Luckily, everyone had recovered by then so we were able to make this one - and we were so glad that we did! We left our resort early as per suggested pick up time with our driver and guide Chris. We stopped off to get some coffee and snacks before the long drive to Chichen Itza from the Riviera Maya. Suggested pick up time was perfect, as we arrived at the site when it was still pretty quiet. Chris sorted out the tickets for us and we went in. We had arrived early enough so that we could see and appreciate the big pyramid of El Castillo and take some photos of and in front of it. Chris kindly took photos of all of my family together with my camera, and managed to get some good ones that we will treasure. Chris is also a certified guide, so he was able to take us around and explain the history of Chichen Itza to us. He was a great guide, really informative and engaging and he really knows his stuff! We loved that we didn't have to figure out which way to walk around the site to see everything and that we could relax knowing that Chris wouldn't let us miss anything. After we were ready to leave, we went on to Cenotes Xkeken and Samula. Chris had life jackets and snorkelling equipment for us if we wanted them, and we felt safe leaving our things in the van with the driver whilst Chris came with us to the cenotes. Again he organised the tickets for us, then once we had got changed we went to the cenotes one after the other. They were wonderful, and we were able to stay as long as we wanted. The next stop on our agenda was Valladolid for lunch in El Atrio. We were so happy that Chris took is there as the food was simply delicious and the service was great. I recommend the cochinita pibil. After a fantastic lunch, we were free to wander around Valladolid at our leisure and return to the van when we were ready to go. We were then taken back to our resort. In all, we had a wonderful day and we loved all the activities that we participated in. We were provided with cold drinks and snacks all day, and we felt comfortable leaving our belongings in the van between destinations. My family of four adults had the air conditioned van all to ourselves as the tour was private just for us. It was fantastic having such a small experience with a guide just for us, and Chris was a pleasure to spend the day with. We would definitely recommend Absolute Adventures whilst in Mexico.
Ver másFirst, we are not people who give reviews, however, we are people who read reviews. This was our second trip with Absolute Adventure for my wife and I on a private snorkel and we could not have been more pleased! We were fortunate to have Juan as our guide and he was very personable, friendly, informative, and truly made every effort to ensure our day was everything we had hoped for. Our day was blessed by calm seas that allowed us to spend the majority of our time in the "Garden" where we saw lobsters, a turtle, a huge stingray, and a reef teaming with wildlife every . If your looking for a trip that makes you feel as if you received more than you paid for, this is for you! Absolute Adventure is worth it! We will definately be using them again on our return to Mexico!
Ver másMy fiance and I did a tour to Tulum and snorkled in a cenote. Juan was full of information and his passion for the Mayan culture showed. We had the best time and recommend Absolute Adventures 100%
Ver másExcellent trip to historical sites our guide Juan was very personable and helpful.Hewas very knowledgeable and was a great resource I would recommend this tour to anyone
Ver másWe did the tulum ruins, cenote(nicte-ha), and turtle tour..it was amazing! I highly recommend doing a tour with them AND to not change the pick up time they recommend. We got to the ruins right when they opened so no waiting in long lines. IF I would have changed the time to a later pickup time we would have to wait in a long line to get our tickets to go into the ruins. When we got to the cenote we were the first ones there. We had the whole place to our selves for a good while. The restaurant they took us to had an amazing atmosphere and food. Snorkeling with the turtles was amazing, we saw 3 turtles, 2 stingrays, a cannon and a few different fish. Our tour guide Claire did a fantastic job . She took alot of pictures for us in her camera and emailed them to us.
Ver másWonderful! Our guide and driver made this a really memorable experience. Highly recommend. Got to visit when the sites were quiet, was lovely.
Ver másWe did a private tour to Tulum, Cenote, Lunch and then Turtle time. There were 6 of us and I am so glad we did the private tour. Arturo and Claire were fantastic! Very friendly, answering all of our questions and also took some great photos. The photos are a really nice touch. I especially loved how entire experience felt like an exclusive one. By that I mean, we were at Tulum long before the crowds. As we were walking out, scores of people were walking in. There were very few people at the Cenote and then lunch was at a local restaurant off the beaten path with less than 10 other patrons. All of us truly enjoyed our day! Will look you up on next trip back. Thank you!
Ver másThe private Tulum ruins and Cenote tour was amazing. Claire was so responsive and our guide (a trained biologist), Arturo, was beyond knowledge. We felt safe leaving our things behind in the car with our driver and the van was really clean and filled with cold drinks for us! No way you should do any of these things on your own. Great to have flashlights and a guide to navigate the Cenote Cave and point cool things out along with getting actual history and background on the ruins itself. Arturo even brought a camera to take photos of us that they later send. A+ service and amazing value!
Ver másWe had a wonderful time with Manuel on our tour. Everyone was prompt and courteous, and very informative. It was a great time and worth the money ! We had a splendid lunch. I would recommend this company!
Ver másWe travelled with two children ages 11 and 14 to the Cancun area and booked two tours with Absolute Adventure Mexico. Our first tour was to Rio Lagartos and Las Coloradas (pink lake). Manuel and a driver met us at our hotel at 6:30 in the am with a clean, air conditioned van stocked with beverages and snacks. Along the way Manuel gave us information of the tour and area, and answered all of our questions. Manuel was perfectly fluent in English, French, and Spanish and was fantastic with children having worked as a middle school teacher. Our first stop was at a local home for breakfast of eggs, fruit and toast. The home was clean, the family was lovely, and the eggs were delicious. Afterwards we boarded a boat with Manuel and boat driver for our trip up the river where we were able to get very close to birds and crocodiles along the way. A highlight of the boat trip was when our 11 year old was able to feed fish to pelicans. We saw storks, eagles, frigates, flamingoes, pelicans and so many other birds. We stopped at an area where we were able to get off the boat and take pictures of hundreds of flamingos. We were lucky to see flamingos in flight which was spectacular! After the flamingo viewing we were taken to a muddy area where we had fun plastering mud all over ourselves for the experience of having super soft skin afterwards. As the mud hardened we were taken to a dock in the middle of the river where a massive crocodile sunned himself. After the boat trip up the river, Manuel took us to a cenote where we could wash the mud off in crystal clear turquoise-green water. It was fantastic. Manuel was so amazing as a guide that he realized clouds were rolling in making the pink colour of Las Coloradas not as spectacular. He altered our itinerary to go to the pink lake next instead of lunch which was planned so we could view the lake when it was most spectacular. Our timing to the pink lake was perfect, another thirty minutes and it would have been so cloudy the lake would be red instead of bubble gum pink. We were taken around the lake with a guide and Manuel took all of our pictures as a family together for us. We even had fun with some crazy panoramic pictures. Manuel explained the process of salt production as the pink lake and other ponds are part of a salt factory. We got to see samples of the brine shrimp put into the ponds before the lake becomes pink. It was such a fantastic experience. When we had enough time at Las Coloradas, we departed to a fantastic taqueria where tortillas were made by hand and lunch was delicious. Manuel and the driver returned us to our hotel after a full day of experiences. It was wonderful having the driver because he stayed with the van and all of our belongings.
Ver másIf you don't want to be treated like a heard on a tour with more people than you like, use these guys. They are fantastic at giving tours 'your way" truly making it 'your experience' not theirs.
Ver másThe wife and I booked a private tour to the Punta Laguna monkey reserve and Coba Ruins with Abslote Adventures, and couldn't have been happier with our Guide, or our experience. Our guide, Juan, was fantastic and we really enjoyed the personal touch of a private tour, and would not hesitate to hire Absolute again in the future, and of course request Juan again. Private tours are slightly more costly than group tours, but their is no comparison when it comes to the better over all value! Thanks guys, for the memories!

Ver másArturo was our guide and he was excellent ‚Äî totally made the trip! He was incredibly friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. This trip was a fantastic experience and we would do it again in a heartbeat! We did the private tour for the Tulum ruins, reef snorkeling and cenote. The tour began with our driver, Rodrigo, picking us up on time (he was actually early!) with Arturo in a clean, spacious van stocked with cold beverages. We arrived to the ruins before the crowds and heat which was awesome. We then left for the cenotes at Dos Ojos since the wind was too severe for reef snorkeling. We didn‚Äôt mind since it meant we could do both an open and closed cenote! Both were absolutely amazing. Thank you to Arturo and the team for making this the best day of our trip!
Ver másWe have a lovely day at Rio Lagartos. We got there very early so there are not much boats on the river. We saw a lot of birds and flamingos! And a crocodile! Las Coloradas are beautiful and we also saw a lot of flamingos there! Guide is very kind and helpful. It‚Äôs really a nice trip!
Ver másOur day trip to Tulum and the Tak Be Ha cenote was excellent! Our party included my wife and I and our 5 year old daughter and 20 month old son. Arturo and our driver, Rodrigo picked us up sharply at 7 and had everything we needed for our trip They even provided a car seat for our little guy. Tulum was interesting, although apparently you need to hire a guide from the park and our guide's English was not so clear. This was not the fault of Absolute but it would have been better if they provided a guide who they were confident spoke English well as we would have got more out of it. Arturo was super patient with us as moving around with two little people can take a bit longer. He also engaged them and was a great conversationalist. HIs English was strong.
Ver másMy wife and I participated in a tour with Juanjo and Alberto, both of whom were incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. They led us through the Tulum Ruins and Cob√° at times that allowed us to avoid the crowds, and we ended the morning with a delicious lunch and conversation together. 5/5.
Ver másThis was a great tour! Rocko, our very kind and knowledgeable guide, made this into a spectacular day and one we‚Äôll never forget. Tony, our photographer, did a super job too, as well as our driver.
Ver másWe had an amazing time touring Coba with Juan and Aturo. The private tour allowed us to go at our pace, ask any questions we wanted, and hear more about the places we visited. They made sure we beat the crowds and took pictures for us along the way. We will be using Absolute Adventures next time we are in Mexico!
Ver másJuan rocks. The tour rocks. The company rocks. We went to Punta Laguna and Coba. Nice, clean, private transport with lunch, snacks, and drinks included.
Ver másSecond year of using their service. Absolutely, first class. First year we took 3 different snorkel trips. Had the same guide for all three. Arturo, phenomenal knowledge of all histories of the area. Just this past January we were back. Arturo had moved on. We were bummed. Then we met Juan, our guide for our adventures this trip and I swear, he was even more knowledgeable.Obviously this small company has quality of service foremast in mind. Just check out the information on their web site. It's a comprehensive study in local history and lore.
Ver másMy husband and I toured the Coba ruins and a couple of cenotes with Arturo and Juan. This was our first time doing a private tour, and I will say that luxury of not having to stop by a dozen resorts to pick up and drop off other groups is worth the extra cost alone. The personal service and fun, knowledgeable guides make this tour a bargain! They made sure we got to the temple early so we could get to the top before the crowds and even brought a camera to take pictures for us. Juan was a wealth of knowledge about the ruins, the history, and the culture. Arturo is the biology expert and could answer all our questions about the trees, plants, and animals we saw. The guys were also funny and personable. By the end of the trip it felt like we were talking to old friends.
Ver másWe first started with swimming with the turtles which truly was a remarkable experience for my family. We came within 5 feet of this amazing creature and followed it as it rose its head out of the water for air and descended back to the sea grass. We were lucky enough as well to see some rays but to witness the giant sea turtles that close was a must do by anyone. We then grabbed our stuff and headed to a magnificent Cenote that will leave you speechless. Our guide Claire was an absolute book of knowledge and the best company and guide we could ask for on our day adventure. I would recommend this to one and all you will not be disappointed. Thank you Claire you truly were the best!! Hope to see you again.
Ver másThe private visit was very well organized. Our guide Juan was genuine, hilarious, very accommodating and obviously very knowledgeable. On top of that they take great photos of you throughout the day and make them available for you to download for free. I highly recommend this tour.
